How It Works

The Denver Public Library’s Summer of Adventure program encourages youth from birth to 12th grade to grow, learn and have fun.

During the summer months, while not in school, students who lack access to learning opportunities lose anywhere between 1-3 months of reading and math skills. This phenomenon is called summer learning loss or summer slide.

The Summer of Adventure program provides youth with opportunities for informal learning and activities to help youth retain academic and social skills throughout the summer months. And best of all, it’s FREE!

Summer of Adventure runs from May 31 - August 10. Here are the important dates:

  • May 31: First day to register and first day to pick up Registration Prize
  • June 29: First day to pick up Completion Prize
  • July 27: Last day to register
  • August 10: Last day for prizes

How to Register

Beginning May 31, stop by your neighborhood library and register for the Summer of Adventure program. Pick up an adventure guide to record your activities and work your way to a finishing prize. Time spent at the library counts towards your goal, so be sure to check out your neighborhood library’s free summer events, activities and programs. Youth will receive a registration prize and completion prize. Families will be eligible for weekly drawings for passes to cultural institutions and entertainment centers at all branch locations. For more information, visit your local library branch.
